Marketplace Pricing Guidelines

Regulatory and marketplace compliance rules are not implemented by default within our tool, as requirements vary by region, marketplace, and business context and may change over time.

We can consult with you on pricing-related regulatory requirements and help translate applicable constraints into pricing rules, controls, or configurations that support your compliance objectives.

To help you get started, here is a list of common regulations and marketplace requirements, along with examples of how you can implement them using our tool.

1. General EU Compliance (Omnibus Directive)

The EU Omnibus Directive strictly regulates price reduction announcements to protect consumers from artificial price inflation.

  • Any promotional (red) price displayed to consumers must reference the lowest price applied to that item within the preceding 30 days.
  • Raising a regular price while a discount is active, or dropping a price immediately after a product launch, will trigger compliance blocks on marketplaces.

2. Zalando Specific Regulations

Zalando enforces rigorous pricing standards and penalizes listings that do comply with marketplace requirements.

Regulation / ConstraintMarketplace LogicPlatform Rule Implementation
Minimum Discount StepDiscounts below 10% are typically not visible as promotions and may lead to Omnibus compliance risks.Apply:
Discount >= Value% OR No Discount (based on Gross Black Price)
Price Freeze WindowPrice changes (red or black) are restricted for 10 days after product launch or a black price update.Use rule:
Min days after last gross black price change = X Days
Fair Price CapRegular marketplace prices are generally expected not to exceed the manufacturer's Recommended Retail Price (RRP).Apply the safety ceiling rule:
Optimal Price <= RRP * Multiple

Setting Up Compliance Rules

To safeguard your channels, we recommend embedding these constraints within your global or channel-specific scopes. Prioritize compliance-related rules above other optimization rules to ensure that legal and marketplace requirements are applied first.

See Rules for step-by-step instructions on creating and managing rules.
